Natural Cures For Back Pain
|
Your better half wants the sofa shifted and you willingly oblige forgetting for a moment that you are on the wrong side of forty. The searing pain you experience confirms that you have joined millions of others who unwittingly become victims of back pain. Only in your case it’s the lower back pain, which in the majority is generally caused when lower back muscles get strained due to heavy physical work, like lifting, bending and twisting.
However, it can also occur by consistently using improper sitting posture due to faulty workplace seating. And it can be hereditary too. The pain manifests itself differently in different people; it can be sudden, sharp, persistent or dull.
Discovering lower back pain
It’s true the misery of lower back pain remains a mystery, as you generally fail to understand the cause of such intense pain. You try all your bright ideas to ease the pain, but end up either suffering in silence or taking the easy way out through painkillers that may reduce the pain, but don’t eradicate the root cause of the problem. The result is gradual worsening of the condition that can force you to walk with a crooked posture or make you limp or shuffle with the aid of crutches.

This problem is generally caused by spinal injury due to accident or some strenuous physical activity or some other cause, resulting in slipped discs or misalignment of one or more lower vertebrae forming the spine. And if you’re unfortunate enough to have osteoporosis this condition gets aggravated. The inflamed nerves, branching out through the vertebrae, cause muscle spasms at the base of the spine that may immobilize you for days. Whatever be the reason, one thing is certain, this condition severely affects your quality of life.
Back pain remedies
Surgery is one option that’s best avoided. Why? Because there are many effective home remedies for back pain that you can safely apply and get immense relief from. There are certain excellent natural cures for back pain. Let’s see what they are:
a. Mobilizing the spine:
This comes under the ambit of physical therapy and is a safe and gentle way of freeing trapped nerves and realigning vertebrae and discs that have become misaligned. It aims to free the joints from constriction and helps increase the elasticity of soft tissues that may be pressing the spinal nerves.
b. Fixing bad posture:
Poor posture causes tension along the spine that can make your neck, shoulders, back and legs hurt. For this the recommended physical therapy is the body alignment exercise that can be done anywhere and need just a minute off your busy schedule. It exercises individual body parts.
c. Acupressure:
This Chinese technique, similar to acupuncture but without the needles, involves using your hands to apply pressure at specific energy points on your body. This frees blocked “life energy”, helping the body to heal.
d. Yoga:
Yoga, the Indian technique for all bodily ailments, is an excellent home remedy for lower back pain. It helps relieve stress and tension that sometimes cause this condition. However, take care to select the right yoga poses, as some can aggravate the existing pain.
e. Meditation:
Use this with visualization to think less negatively about the pain. This will help not only in bearing the pain, but also in freeing you from mental distress and muscular tension, leading to cure.
f. Kava:
Kava is a narcotic beverage made from the roots of a shrub called Piper methysticum. It’s effectively used as herbal medicine for back pain and is recognized by some doctors as a safe alternative to Xanax and Valium.
Natural cures are safe and effective and, more importantly, non-invasive. So, if you’re afflicted with a painful lower back condition, use them by all means, but not without first consulting your physician.

All of these are good remedies, however Chiropractic is not mentioned. Chiropractors find and remove Vertebral subluxations (misalignments) in the spine that cause the nerve interference. Nerve interference not only affects your back but also can affect every area of your body beings that your Brain/Spinal cord are the master controls for all your body function.
I suggest reading up on chiropractic and Vertebral subluxations. Only chiropractors are trained to find and correct vertebral subluxations. Be cautious if you have a PT or DO that says they are going to preform “modalities” because they do not have the specific training that Chiropractors do.
I would recommend sleeping on the floor or some other hard surface that gives you spine support. I have been doing this for a couple of weeks and I have noticed an great reduction in my back pain.
I agree with Nikki. Chiropractic is one of the best natural remedies for back pain. In fact, Chiropractors are specialists in natural care of spinal pain. Patient satisfaction is among the highest of all treatment options. I urge you to consider chiropratic first! There are many techniques that you can be adjusted with- so it’s important that you find a DC that fits your needs and preferences.
